The Village provides for pickup and disposal of leaves, branches and other green waste from the side of the street twice a year - Spring and Fall. The DPW crew goes around the village picking up green waste materials with its loader and dump truck. The material is taken to the Town/Village green waste disposal at the former dump site off NYS Rte 3 to the west of the village.
The DPW department will post the date when pick ups stop for the season on signs and this website. Because weather, other work, and equipment availability vary from year to year, a definite date for stopping pickup cannot be set far in advance.
Note that the material must be greenwaste. No household trash, metal, shingles, construction waste can be picked up. "If it doesn't grow or it isn't sand from winter sanding operations, we can't pick it up."
Materials must be at the roadside. The village crew cannot enter private property to remove materials.
